It depends.: Increased TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) means that the thyroid isn't making enough thyroid hormones without help from the pituitary gland to force it to make more. This is usually due to chronic hypothyroidism. Sometimes, increases in TSH can be temporary, though. Take it as long as your doctor says. Often a higher dose of your thyroid medicine is needed.
