Woud you please discuss the clinically proven (and fda approved) treatments for cold sores?

Antivirals & others: Antiviral medications are some of the most common (acyclovir & valacyclovir). There are also ways to eliminate the pain and reduce the healing time with a diode laser.

FDA?: Fda governs how medications and materials are marketed--there are many useful 'off-label' therapies in medicine. Clinically proven: Acyclovir and its many anti-viral rx cousins & laser ablation are doctor provided. Otc methods are less effective but have lots of anecdotal support and 'manufacturer' testimonial 'studies'. It's caused by a virus, we don't control them as well as bacteria or fungus.
