A member asked:

How come diabetics feel nauseated and light headed if they don't eat on time or skip a meal?

Low blood sugar: These symptoms should prompt home blood sugar testing. Most often these symptoms are related to low sugars. Nonetheless, please discuss with treating doctor.

Hypoglycemia: As a podiatrist, i treat many diabetic patients' feet. One thing i tell them is to never skip meals. What happens is they take their blood sugar pills or Insulin that lowers their blood sugar. If they don't eat on time, their blood sugar falls too low, they get hypoglycemia, feel light headed and nauseated or faint. Always eat on time and have some candy in your pocket or purse prevent passing out.
