Holistic approach: I have no experienced in holistic approaches, usually not the first choice in peer reviewed standards of care. If the person has some genetic polymorphism usual related to hyper or hypo metabolism, there are some options like Lithium and other mood stabilizers like Lamotrigene, usually not affected by genetic polymorphism. I would suggest to consult with an expert or clinical psychopharmacologist.

Challenging: Have seen only patient who can barely tolerate any meds no matter how miniscule without major side effects. She relies heavily on therapy, good nutrition and her doctors/therapists. Suggest you see a therapist for support with your mental health issues, reach out for any self-help groups via NAMI, church, etc and stay connected to all your doctors. Let them know your situation. Hope this helps.
