A member asked:

Will hpt still be positive right after giving birth?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Great question ! Right after delivery, yes. HCG is produced by the placenta and although levels are lower than early in pregnancy, they are still present in the system at the time of delivery. These levels should be gone or undetectable by 4 weeks from delivery. If a HPT is still positive by this time, a more serious condition may be present such as gestational trophoblastic disease.
