Don't know. Strep?: That's the big question, right? Do you have Strep or not? Because if you have Strep, then Penicillin can make you feel better quickly. But if you don't, only time will help. Check your Centor score here http://www.mdcalc.com/modified-centor-score-for-strep-pharyngitis/. Your GP can run rapid strep test & decide if culture is necessary if rapid is negative. Do u have step-down from A&E if GP closed
