Hormones: Hormones explain many things such as menses, heavy or not, sore boobs or not. Please don't get angry w/me but as you approach menopause, hormones change and thus menses, too. Don't be surprised when they become more irregular. Just sayin'. BTW, if you bled a bit after sex, go see your GP for check up. Don't ignore post-coital bleeding until you've had normal exam. Relatively high: estrogen in the blood comparing to progesteron. If you are perimenopausa you some time do not ovulate that makes the estrogen level in the blood relatively high not over all high. When times come that you have your period because of high level of estrogen in the blood comparing to progesteron it causes breast tenderness. Use estrogen vaginal cream to prevent bleeding during or after sex
