Mastoid bone: The bone behind that ear is the mastoid bone. It commonly has many air cells that communicate with the middle ear. If there is no redness, pain or tenderness to the touch and you ear drum and hearing are normal, it is possible that there may an asymmetry of the size of the mastoid bone.
