Dropping hcg: HCG shouldn't drop until the second trimester, so by definitiion this would be a missed abortion (missed miscarriage). This means the pregnancy is going forth, but you don't have symptoms yet. However, I always offer another HCG to confirm it is dropping and an Ultrasound to confirm. In fact, I wouldn't offer a D&C until those were done. While lab error is unlikely, I always confirm a loss.
