Iron: This is a common side effect of iron supplements. They can cause gastritis and stomach irritation. I suggest you take the iron tablets with food. FYI, taking vitamin c or orange juice with iron can also help gut absorbption as well.

Not uncommon.: it is not unusual to not tolerate iron supplements, and not tolerating them does not imply that you have an ulcer or other problem. Fortunately, there are several different types of iron supplements, and you may tolerate one of them better. If you truly need additional iron, talk to your doctor about switching to a different product. Good luck.
