Ovarian cysts : A complex ovarian cyst usually has the appearance of septations 8inside on an ultrasound as opposed to a simple cyst that is only filled with fluid. Simple cysts are common and usually do not require any treatment.

Ultrasound: Can distinguish between simple and complex ovarian cysts. Simple cysts are entirely fluid filled. Complex cysts contain echoes indicating solid areas mixed with fluid filled areas. Most complex cysts are benign but some are borderline or malignant. Most cysts go away on their own with time. Ultrasound descriptions help us know if they are growing, changing, or going away.
