Probably normal: Any amount of bleeding may be considered a menstrual period and may change from cycle to cycle on occasion. Menstrual bleeding usually lasts from one to about seven days.

Many possibilities: Your period could be extremely short (1 day) because you are pregnant, because of the contraceptive method you are using, or because of stress, medications, illnesses like thyroid disease, dramatic weight changes, etc. A full history would be needed to be able to narrow it down more.
