Depo provera (medroxyprogesterone): can cause all types of menstrual irregularity. Many women do not have periods at all while using this form of birth control. Other women have unpredictable or continuous bleeding, although it is usually not heavy. Missing an injection when it is due could cause even more problems. If menstrual bleeding is a problem on Depo, a woman should consider another type of birth control.
