A member asked:

I had a healthy boy 4 1/2 yrs ago. recently had a miscarriage. do i have a higher chance of having another? also when can i start trying again?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: After one miscarriage, your risk of a second miscarriage is not any higher. Its roughly 1 in 5 (20%). There is some debate about when you can try again. Some docs will say that its ok to try again after you have a period. I usually recommend waiting about 3 months because there was one study that showed an increased rate of miscarriage if you get pregnant prior to 3 months. Best wishes!
