Does bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) treat gonorrhea? im allergic to the -mycin family and the doxycycline i was taking made me ill after a week. no symptoms have reoccured

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No...: No. Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is not effective in treating gonorrheae. Moderately high dose treatment with azthromycin or fluoroquinones like ciprofloxacin or ofloxacin are best treatments.
