Was told i have mild fatty liver and to watch diet. would hep c test be required at this point? doc didn't order it.. all labs and enzymes nml

No, it would not: Hep C is of course a concern, especially in older patients and ones with certain risk factors. In the absence of enzyme abnormalities or other symptomatology, fatty liver would not induce me to order a Hep C test.

Yes: I wouldn't insist you get it. I know people who don't. But you are young to be having this and it does tend to progress and it can be even caused by hep C or at least be made worse by it, and the cures for hep C are getting better all the time, so it's worth knowing.

Not helpful : Hepatitis C does not cause fatty liver and if you have normal liver enzymes I would not be concerned
