Not ovulating: There may be months when you fail to ovulate for one reason or another. This will occur on and off over the next 15 years. Without ovulation the hormones fail to support the lining of the uterus and you get some spotting. Things should return to normal with your next cycle. If it continues see your doctor.

Spotting between: periods can occur due to a number of different factors. If you have had unprotected sex then pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STD) could be the cause, and you should be tested for these. Changing birth control methods can also result in breakthrough bleeding. It can also occur for no apparent reason, but if this is very unusual for you, you should be checked out, rather than worry.
