A member asked:

Diagnose with fructose intolerance does fructose mabsorption go away??? do it cause a gas buildup in lower back and buttock if you are not eating the correct food... also having pain in back of my upper thigh. ..i have to do a nothing h pylera test for b

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe, but...: Malabsorption is complex and may reflect bacterial fermentation from sibo, small bowel inflammation or mucosal disease (lots of causes), GI transit issues, pancreatic enzyme activity and sufficiency, etc. Since we can't say in your specific case what to expect, a word of advice may include a fructose re-trial if your doctor agrees after sibo eradication or treatment of enteritis (if present).
