Depends: Many docs recommend a backup form of birth control for at least a month while the body gets used to the pill. After then, I always consider it a form of insurance. It can cut the transmission of some STI's, which is always a plus. If you are leery for another reason, say she is forgetful sometimes or she has pushed you to consider having a kid, it could be wise. These can be a bit troublesome.
