A member asked:

I was prescribed diane because of thyrod issues, does it act as a contraceptive or anticonceptive? it's called diane, the box does not say diane35

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cyproterone: You were likely given cyproterone acetate. It is not used for thyroid problems, is not used in the US because it has many potential side effects. It is an antiandrogen, has actions like progesterone, and in some countries is used to treat acne, prostate cancer, excess hair growth, and in combination with estrogens can be used as a contraceptive. I would be very cautious about taking it.
