A member asked:

Vanishing twin syndrome lost at 7 weeks. what is the likelihood that remaining twin will have something wrong with it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pretty small: The chances of a genetic defect in the remaining twin is very small as long as it continues to develop. On most occasions the surviving twin got the majority of the placental perfusion and that is why it is still present and hopefully growing.
