A member asked:

Please suggest what foods are limited on a renal diet?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Renal diet: It depends on the degree of renal insufficiency. For mild disease, salt is the most important item to limit. As the degree of renal failure progresses, you should watch phosphorus intake and potassium intake as those are both cleared by the kidney and can lead to significant problems as they build up. Limiting salt intake to 1.5-2grams/daily is important for a healthy bp.
