Imuran (azathioprine): "IMURAN (azathioprine) should not be given to patients who have shown hypersensitivity to the drug. IMURAN (azathioprine) should not be used for treating rheumatoid arthritis in pregnant women. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis previously treated with alkylating agents (cyclophosphamide, chlorambucil, melphalan, or others) may have a prohibitive risk of malignancy if treated with IMURAN (azathioprine)." Imuran (azathioprine): "Azathioprine (Imuran (azathioprine)) is a drug used to treat swelling and pain in arthritis. The most common diseases treated with Imuran (azathioprine) are dermatomyositis, systemic lupus erythematosus and vasculitis. It belongs to a class of medications called disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) or immunosuppressants. This class of medicines can decrease joint damage and disability"
