Depends: If you've been diagnosed with viral conjunctivitis, this infection is highly contagious and you should not go to the party. A typical course of this is 7-14 days. Other types of conjunctivitis, like allergic, contact-related allergy, are not contagious. Bacterial conjunctivitis, which is far less common, responds to antibiotics and typically resolves in 7-10 days, is less contagious but possible.

Yes: start treatment immediately though. Avoid touching your eye and use good hand hygiene. Some antibiotics will kill the bacteria faster than others. Ask your doctor what preferred drug to use.
