A member asked:

Is it a good idea to get the hpv vaccine even without a spleen? any side effects that are major?

Makes no difference: Absence of a spleen predisposes one to increased risk of a variety of bacterial diseases, but has no significant impact on the value or effectiveness of the HPV vaccine. This shot hurts more than most, but the risk to normal people is negligible.

No problem: Whether you have a spleen or not would not affect the outcome from HPV vaccines or any other vaccine although you will likely have lower or no response to vaccines consisting only of capsular antigens from the bacteria.
