Prolactin elevation: Prolactin is released by the pituitary and causes breast to produce milk in women after childbirth. When its not normal to be lactating, you need to have a prolactin level blood test. If elevated, the nect step is an MRI of your pituitary to make sure there is no mass causing the increased prolactin level.
