Ginger and Honey: Fresh ginger tea with honey is good for a cough. Moms who are breastfeeding can safely eat honey. but babies under the age of 1 should not be given honey, corn syrup, or even maple syrup directly because of the risk of botulism. Babies don't produce enough acid in their stomach to kill the bacteria that causes botulism. Moms do. Even if they eat contaminated honey, there is no risk to baby.
