Fecal impaction is a: result of severe constipation,when a large mass of stool lodges in the outermost part of the large intestine,the rectum.It can be painful;some people then have liquid stool leaking around it,giving the appearance of diarrhea, but it is not.The cause of the constipation needs to be treated and the mass of stool needs to be removed, so enemas and stool softeners and laxative may be used.
