A little: The ablation procedure involves insertion of multiple catheters into the heart. These are placed intravenously, so there can be a little discomfort when the iv's are started. You will be given local anesthetic and either sedative medication or stronger anesthesia. The actual ablation can cause some chest discomfort, but this is typically well managed with iv medications.
