Not necessary.: In the United States, supplementation with L lysine is not necessary, since plenty is present in the diet. The preponderance of studies do not show benefit to taking supplemental L-lysine. You can save your money. Good luck.

Not necessarily: L-lysine is an amino acid that is important in the treatment of herpes infections. It works well with Zinc to help inhibit the replication of the herpes virus which speeds the healing time. This also helps to decrease and in many cases avoid frequent herpes break outs. Care should be taken to avoid over use of L-lysine since it may decrease L-arginine levels.
