Spotting: Spotting could be have a number of causes, including hormonal imbalance, trauma, and sexually transmitted diseases (STD). Some forms of birth control can cause spotting in some women, so if you have changed birth control methods that could be the problem. If you have had unprotected sex (without a condom), then you are at high risk for STD and you should be checked for STD.
