Pregnancy tests: Although over-the counter urine pregnancy tests are very accurate, a blood test is 99% accurate. If it is still "negative" your doctor may order additional testing to rule out other causes of "amenorrhea", (absence of menses). Many GYN's will prescribe a trial of progesterone pills to take for several days to induce menses if the blood test is "negative".
