How late?: If you are more than 5 days past the date of the expected period, you did the test correctly and the result was negative, you are unlikely to be pregnant. It would be prudent to repeat the test in 4-5 days, if you do not get a period by then. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully. Alternatively you could get a blood test that is more sensitive.
