Dry Eye Syndrome: Dry eyes can cause chronic eye pain. If you also have a dry mouth & arthritis, ask your eyemd or md to evaluate you for sjogren's syndrome. Deficiency of tear production might mean a process affecting your lacrimal gland.

Many things: A number of conditions can cause dry eyes many of which are considered "autoimmune diseases". This may include lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. Sjögren's syndrome is a condition causing dry eyes, reduction in saliva, etc. And is found often with the conditions mentioned above. One easy way to treat the dry eyes is with artifical tears (over the counter). Check with your physician.
