Liver/gallbladder: Eat a diet low in fat. Fatty foods make your gallbladder contract. If you have gallstones, then they can get stuck in the biliary duct and cause pain. If it is really your liver causing pain, then avoid things that are metabolized by the liver - avoid alcohol and Acetaminophen for example. Weight loss can also help the liver. Milk thistle is an herb that is touted for liver function.

What's causing pain?: The liver itself has no pain fibers, as true with brain--either can be sliced with a surgical tool and no pain. The capsule or linings of each organ has pain fibers. Unlikely to have 'liver pain' unless something is irritating the lining. So, find out what's causing the pain, and how to stop it will become clear. Try the following: stop-if ingesting-alcohol, coffee, hot/spicy foods, Aspirin drugs.

Shouldn't . . .: Coffee shouldn't affect your liver (unless you're mixing it w/irish whiskey or some other alcohol). If you're mixing a lot of cream into your coffee, the fat in the cream may be aggravating your gallbladder. Best way to figure out what's causing "liver pain" is to stop the coffee for a while & see how you feel. Then start it again & see if it comes back. Perhaps you have gastritis? Go see your doc.
