A member asked:

Husband and i are thinking of trying to conceive baby #3. i've been on 20mg prozac (fluoxetine) for 3 months and don't want to stop. is it ok during pregnancy?

Probably : There's debate in the field, but Prozac (fluoxetine) appears to be relatively safe. If you had been on it much longer, my recommendation to continue it would have been stronger. If you can get off it, it is safer for the baby. This is always a difficult decision. The latest data I've read is that a mother's depression is no longer considered dangerous to the fetus, unless it interferes with mother's nutrition.
