4-6 weeks: A very common problem. If you see a surgeon within 3-5 days of the thrombosis, he might suggest that he could remove the clot in an attempt to speed up the healing process. But if the clot is left there ,it will also heal and gradually go away. Warm baths and stool softeners also help .
