A member asked:

What is the latest development of hepatitis b treatment?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Antivirals: The most commonly used antiviral medications against hepatitis b are Entecavir and tenofovir. Both are well tolerated and do a great job stopping the hbv from making copies of itself. No medications cure hepatitis b so many people have to take them indefinitely. Gilead is working on an immune enhancer drug that might help control hbv as well as a tenofovir-like drug with fewer kidney problems.
