Rib cage: Possibilities include rib cage contusion,strain, or actual rib fractures. Any of these are treated symptomatically with cold applications for 2 days and then alternating with heat, NSAIDS like ibuprofen, if you can take them and rest. If pain and tenderness lasts more than 10 days or worsens intensely, call your physician who may order xrays of that part of the rib cage for diagnosis.
