A member asked:

I ovulated on cycle day 18 and had sex on cycle day 20 . .could that result in pregnancy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Technically, no: The human egg vanishes 24 hours after ovulation, so technically ovulating on day 18 and having intercourse on day 20 of the cycle should not make a woman conceive. However, I would not rely on anything available in predicting ovulation accurately. If ovulation occurred very close to day 19 and intercourse very early on day 20, you come within the 24 h window you need to conceive.
