Very serious: In Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return, the oxygenated blood coming from the lungs, instead of going to the systemic circulation, returns to the pulmonary circulation and goes in a circle back to the lungs. The only blood that goes to the rest of the body goes through a communication between the atria. This is a problem that must be fixed with surgery.
