A member asked:

What's the difference between ventolin and atrovent (ipratropium)? which is safer during pregnancy at 16 weeks? thanks!

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Different classes: ventolin is albuterol and is a beta 2 agonist bronchodilator while atrovent (ipratropium) is iprotropium and is an anti cholinergic bronchodilator. Both are generally safe during pregnancy but if you are using them more than a few doses a week you may need to be using a controller medicine to reduce your dependence on the bronchodilators.
