50%, also use condom: Presumably you mean genital herpes. If due to HSV2, treatment (valacyclovir or acyclovir) will reduce transmission chance by about 50-60%. Nearly 100% protection if you also use condoms and avoid sex during outbreaks. If HSV1, transmission risk is much lower, maybe no treatment needed. Discuss with your doctor, or visit one of UK's excellent NHS GUM clinics for expert, lifestyle-sensitive care.
