Blighted ovum: It sounds like you may have had what is referred to as a blighted ovum, which occurs when an egg is fertilized, and may to attach to the uterine wall, but the embryo does not develop. Blighted ovum is usually related to a high level of chromosome abnormalities. Prior to development of early pregnancy tests, women often did not know they were pregnant when this occurred. Sorry for your loss.
