See below: BCP's can increase the risk of cardiovascular events, hypertension and veinous thrombosis. However, the risk is slight except for certain patients, and is significantly less than the risks associated with pregnancy. Smokers over age 35 should avoid the pill. Data on risk of breast CA is conflicting, but risk is low. The pill lowers risk of ovarian and uterine cancer. http://bit.ly/1EJ4M7W
