If you are using : Protection it would help,as long as sexual contact is only genital.If any other e.g. Oral , you would have to use protection too.Your best bet,is to use prophylactic antiviral , Valtrex (valacyclovir) or Famvir daily.If you feel like you are about to have an outbreak ,then abstain
