7-10 days: Pregnancy tests will usually be positive within 7-10 days of conception. The best time to do a pregnancy test is 1 week after your period was due, it should be positive by then if you are pregnant. If a test is negative and a woman continues to believe she may be pregnant, another test should be done in 1 week. Woman who may be pregnant should be taking Folic Acid, to help prevent birth defects

After missed period: Blood test for pregnancy is usually positive one day after a missed period. Home pregnancy test should be done 5 or more days after a missed period. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions carefully. A negative result on a test done too soon does not rule out pregnancy.
