It depends: Most babies are covered by the mother's immunity at birth. If your pregnancy was uncomplicated and you had a full term healthy baby it is probably OK now. If the baby was a premie or if the weather is very cold the baby is very vulnerable to the elements and sick people around them. The first Peds visit is about two weeks after birth. I would use that as a good guide about the first outing.

Baby for 2 months: That varies a great deal depending on the culture and wisdom of the mother. For medical reasons, you do not need to be home bound at all. You should get out of the house as soon as you feel up to it. On the other hand, your newborn infant is very vulnerable. It is wise to limit having your baby out and about, or exposed to others until the baby is at least 2 months old, infections are dangerous.
