Patience: It can take several cycles for the pill to regulate the cycle, spotting and bleeding when first starting the pill is common. If is continues beyond three months, then see the doctor.

Likely normal: Typically women start the pill on the Sunday AFTER their period starts, unless they start their period on Sunday, then they should wait until the NEXT Sunday to start the pills. Her hormones are probably just a little confused right now, and she should finish the pack as directed and start the next as directed and hopefully things will even out by the 3rd pack.
