PID: Pelvic inflammatory disease occurs when the upper genital tract of a woman is infected. The cause is normally polymycrobial and broad spectrum antibiotics are commonly used. Ceftriaxone and Flagyl should adequately treat the infection, however some patients will require extra antibiotics.
